Cyber Awareness

The Cyber Police Station is conducting a Cyber Awareness Program to raise awareness about online fraud and cyber crimes among the general public. With 212 schools and 66 colleges under the Police Commissioner jurisdiction, the initiative primarily focuses on spreading awareness by visiting educational institutions.

On January 8, 2025, in conjunction with Maharashtra Police Raising Day, a street play competition was organized at Old Viva College, Virar, under the jurisdiction of Mira Bhayander, Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate Zone 3. The theme of the competition was "Cyber Crime Awareness and the Bad Effects of Drugs." 18 schools and colleges from Zone 3 participated, involving 900 students and 160 teachers and staff. The winning teams were honored with trophies and certificates by the Honorable Police Commissioner. All participating teams were also awarded trophies and certificates as a form of encouragement.

To raise awareness about cyber fraud, a unique Instagram Reel competition was held, with 5,000 participants from the Mira Bhayander, Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate. Participants were asked to submit cyber-themed reels between October 2023 and December 2023. 6 outstanding reels were selected by the jury, and the winners were awarded on January 4, 2024, in a grand ceremony at Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium, Mira road graced by the presence of renowned playback singer Padmashri awardee Sonu Nigam.

In 2023, the Cyber Awareness Program reached 22 schools and colleges.

The street play competition held at Old Viva College, Virar, on July 25, 2023, organized by Virar Police Station, was a notable event. 12 colleges participated, involving 800 students. The event was broadcast on social media platforms, garnering 3,500 views. The winning teams were honored with trophies and certificates by the Honorable Police Commissioner. All participants were awarded trophies and certificates as encouragement. The goal is to create awareness about cyber crimes and their preventive measures, especially among the youth.
